ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Asymmetric means that the “upstream rate” (to the Internet) is slower to the “downstream rate” (from the Internet). It is a high downstream rate which makes surfing or downloading files more enjoyable. With low costs and high speeds, it is clearly an Internet choice made by thousands.
ADSL is unique from the other types of DSL because the ADSL service is installed on your existing phone line. Local dial tone services and features are not affected with having the ADSL service provisioned together. With the ability to run voice and data on the same line, your costs are reduced by the number of lines you have to have installed at your home, which saves you money.
